How it compares

Paytron beside the things you might use instead

A community foundation already has a CRM and usually a grant management system, and will be quoted a foundation suite or an impact tool. This page puts Paytron beside all four, row by row, including the rows where they do more. Every Paytron cell links to the page on this site that backs it.

How to read the table

The columns are kinds of product, with named examples, because foundations compare against a shortlist rather than one vendor. A cell is our judgement of the kind, from published product pages and documentation, checked on 6 September 2026. Where a product in the group differs, the note says which.

Yes
Part of the product as sold, without custom build.
Partly
Some of it, or all of it with configuration, a partner or a workaround.
No
Not what the product is for, by the vendor's own description.
Varies
Depends on which product in the group, or on how it is set up.
Not found
Not in the published documentation we checked. Tell us if we missed it.

Each donor's share of each grant payment, worked out to the penny and reconciledWhere this is explainedYes

Append-only ledger. Shares sum to the payment, with a plain-English explanation each.

No

Tracks the grant and the grantee, not which gifts funded it.

Partly

Fund-level: a holder sees their fund's grants. No share per gift into a pooled fund.

No

Pooled, named and statutory funds each attribute by their own rule, and statutory money never reaches an individual's feedWhere this is explainedYes

Enforced in the database, not left to a reviewer.

NoPartly

Named funds map to holders. Pooled shares and the statutory rule are yours to manage.

Product names are trademarks of their owners and are used to identify them. We have no connection with any of them. Vendors change their products, and we would rather correct a cell than defend it: if one is wrong, write to [CONTACT EMAIL] and we will fix it and say so here.

Where they do more than Paytron

Paytron sits beside these products. It replaces none of them, and there are things each does that Paytron does not attempt.

  • A grant management system

The whole grant lifecycle: applications, eligibility, assessment, panel decisions, payments and compliance. Paytron takes no applications and makes no grants. It reads the grants you have already paid.

  • A foundation suite with a fund-holder portal

Fund accounting and donor-advised fund administration in one system, with statements generated from its own ledger. Paytron reads fund figures from Xero or a balances file rather than keeping the books.

  • An impact measurement tool

Outcome frameworks, longitudinal surveys and evaluation across a whole portfolio of grants. Paytron collects one short update per grant, in the group's words, and does not attempt evaluation.

  • Your CRM plus email

The relationship record, Gift Aid claims for every gift however it arrived, campaigns and mailings. Paytron writes two things back to it and never replaces it.

The short version

Keep your CRM and your grant system

Paytron reads the grants you have paid and the gifts that funded them, and writes back a status and a link. Nothing moves.

Add the one thing none of them do

Each donor sees the grants their own money reached, in the group's words, with the pounds and the percentage, after a named person approved it.

Know what we have not done

No external security audit yet, and the band prices follow the founding foundations. Both are in the table, and on the trust and pricing pages.
